内容简介:

Inorganic chemistry plays a pivotal role in advancing sustainable technologies, particularly in sectors requiring efficient energy conversion, emission control, and circular use of materials. This lecture provides a journey through the “inorganic chemistry playground,” highlighting how rational design and low-temperature wet-chemistry routes can enable environmentally responsible synthesis of functional inorganic and hybrid materials. After briefly reflecting on long-standing scientific collaborations with Slovenia, the talk focuses on two case studies that demonstrate how experimental parameter space exploration—supported by Design of Experiments (DoE), mechanistic insights, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)—can steer the development of advanced materials.

The first case addresses noble metal nanoparticles and tailored oxide supports for emission control catalysts, showing how morphology-controlled ceria and DoE-guided synthesis of Pt/Pd nanostructures can reduce critical raw material content while improving performance. The second case explores medium- and high-entropy spinel oxides as emerging, earth-abundant electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction, demonstrating that highly crystalline multinary oxides can be synthesized at relatively low temperatures with tunable composition and promising activity.

Overall, the lecture highlights a sustainable, data-driven approach to inorganic materials design, showcasing how low-temperature, scalable synthesis routes—and interdisciplinary collaborations—can contribute to a cleaner and more circular chemical future.
