讲座内容简介:After a brief introduction to the University of Maryland and my research, I would like to share my experience in teaching computer methods and applied mathematics courses for chemical engineers at the University of Maryland. I have been in charge of the computer methods course since 1987 and the applied mathematics course continuously since 2012. During that period, some topics that I cover have remained constant, while other topics have evolved. Likewise, students' computer and math skills have also evolved. Although I have kept some pedagogy numbers to quantitatively back up my observations, I will keep this presentation qualitative on the lighter side.
报告人简介:Nam Sun Wang is a professor at university of Maryland. His lab focuses on biochemical and bioprocess engineering; bioengineering for protein and enzyme immobilization and angiogenesis; on-line chemical and biochemical process monitoring (including NIR, fluorescence, and light scattering); and biosensor design using protein arrays, antibody/antigen interaction, and DNA/DNA hybridization. Recent projects have included diagnostics based on urinary biomarkers, the development of a bioartificial pancreas for diabetics, advanced transdermal insulin patch technologies, synthesis and characterization of biocompatible, fluorescent nanostrucured silicon, and dense immobilization of proteins and enzymes on porous silica supports.
