Jiangsu Provincial Research Center of Light Industrial Optoelectronic Engineering and Technology is approved by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, with the School of Science of Jiangnan University as the main body, joint with the Solar Photovoltaic Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, Wuxi Suntech Solar Power Co., Ltd., and Jiangsu Xinguanglian Technology Co., Ltd. It is an important platform for scientific research and industrialization services in universities and an important part of independent innovation in scientific research. The main research objectives of the Center include: optoelectronic devices and systems; optoelectronic functional materials and devices; optical information and optical communication technologies; advanced spectroscopy and imaging technologies and applications; to realize the civilianization of new photoelectric technology, to establish a platform for light industrial optoelectronic public service system.
The Center is headed by Prof. Chen Guoqing, Dean of the School of Science, Jiangnan University, working with Deputy Directors Wu Jianguo, from the State Solar Photovoltaic Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, and Prof. Gao Shumei, from the Optoelectronics Department. The Center currently has 10 academic leaders, more than 50 R&D personnel, among whom more than 40 have senior professional titles. The current office area is 300 square meters, the laboratory area is nearly 2,000 square meters, and the total value of experimental equipment is 15 million yuan. In recent years, more than 50 scientific research projects including national key research projects, "863", and National Natural Science Funds has been undertaken and completed; More than 50 national and ministry-level science and technology awards has been got; More than 10 books have been written, more than 400 high-level academic papers have been published, and more than 100 patents for inventions and utility models has been authorized.
The Center establishes three functional sub-platform laboratories, which are:
1) Advanced Spectroscopy Technology and Its Application Laboratory: Focus on various key technologies and application systems such as spectrum detection, microscope imaging, and OCT.
2) Optoelectronic devices and systems laboratories: The main R&D field of the team is the use of photovoltaic light sources and LED civilian applications. This sub-platform is mainly dedicated to the design of inorganic and organic solar cells and related power generation systems, as well as LED devices and lighting systems.
3) Optoelectronic functional materials and devices laboratory: mainly based on new optoelectronic materials, energy band structure and interface charge transfer characteristics of composite semiconductor photocatalytic materials, preparation of photocatalytic functional materials and devices, and applications in the environmental fields, Pre-research on solar battery and LED civilian development.
